February 23, 2007, Newsletter Issue #52: 7 High! Awesome!

Tip of the Week

Learn to play poker games that are new and exciting! Imagine being dealt 2-3-4-5-7 and having your heart jump out of your chest with excitement. Most of us grew up playing poker games where the highest hand wins, but there are a ton of games where the worst hand wins! Take triple draw lowball, for example. It's played like five card draw, except you're going for the worst hand possible, and you get to draw three times.

Triple draw lowball can be played where aces are high and straights and flushes count against you (called 2-7 because that's the best hand) or where aces are low and straights and flushes don't count (called A-5 for the same reason). It sounds like a crazy game, but it's played for very high stakes on some online poker sites. Just make sure you know which one you're playing when you bet your house!
